When installing Fedora 12 on HP Compaq CQ71, it was not intended for using WLAN, however, when it comes for its usage, I found out the NetworkManager does not see any wireless networks (Broadcom card).
Remove the ssb blacklist option from boot kernel parameters (these two steps are optional, however):
sudo leafpad /boot/grub/grub.conf
and from modprobe.d:
sudo leafpad /etc/modprobe.d/anaconda.conf
Install akmod-wl and build the module:
sudo yum -y install akmod-wl akmods --akmod wl
Install module:
modprobe wl
Restart network:
sudo service NetworkManager restart sudo service network restart
At this point the laptop’s NetworkManager starts to see the networks around.
